Suzuki Motor Corporation (Headquarters: Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Representative Director and President: Toshihiro Suzuki, hereinafter referred to as "Suzuki") and Tokyo Seimitsu Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Hachioji, Tokyo, President and CEO: Ryuichi Kimura, hereinafter referred to as "Tokyo Seimitsu") have reached an agreement to outsource charge/discharge testing operations, crucial for battery development. Consequently, Tokyo Seimitsu's testing equipment has been introduced at the newly established "Battery Evaluation Laboratory FURUDONO" located within Tokyo Seimitsu's Furudono Plant (Furudono-machi, Ishikawa-gun, Fukushima). A ceremony commemorating the commencement of operations was held on November 18th.

The operations entrusted to Tokyo Seimitsu by Suzuki pertain to charge/discharge tests, a critical aspect for the technological development of next-generation batteries. These tests will be conducted using Tokyo Seimitsu's charge/discharge testing systems, with Tokyo Seimitsu's engineers responsible for the operations.

By leveraging Tokyo Seimitsu's expertise and extensive experience in charge/discharge tests, this collaboration aims to substantially enhance the efficiency and quality of Suzuki's leading development and mass production of High-Efficiency Electric Tech.

Suzuki and Tokyo Seimitsu, with an eye toward the future, are committed to collaboratively pursuing the realization of sustainable infrastructure mobility.

Comment from Katsuhiro Kato, Director and Executive Vice President, Suzuki:

Suzuki is committed to the development of technologies aimed at minimizing energy consumption to achieve a sustainable society. In the "Technology Strategy 2025 for 10 Years Ahead" unveiled in September this year, we announced the promotion of battery-lean electric technology, which embodies our Philosophy of Conduct, “Sho-Sho-Kei-Tan-Bi (Smaller, Fewer, Lighter, Shorter, Beauty),” including compact and highly efficient electric units and small, lightweight batteries.

Through this partnership with Tokyo Seimitsu, we aspire to expedite the development speed and improve the quality of battery technology, thereby contributing to the proliferation of battery-lean electric vehicles and the achievement of a carbon-neutral society.

Comment from Hitoshi Yoshida, Representative Director and Chairman, Tokyo Seimitsu:

Our group has significantly contributed to the development and production of environmentally superior automobiles by providing precision measuring instruments, including high-precision coordinate measuring machines and contour measuring instruments. As the automotive industry undergoes substantial transformations towards electrification, we are diversifying our business by entering the electrical measurement market for rechargeable batteries. Our current mid-term business plan also advocates the expansion of charge/discharge testing systems and consigned battery evaluation services, supporting the development and mass production of batteries.

We are confident that this initiative will not only contribute to the mid- and long-term growth of both Tokyo Seimitsu and Suzuki but also contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
